This page is dedicated to all our year 6 parents/carers and students. I hope you are well and coping with this very strange world we find ourselves in.
We are committed to making the transition into secondary school as positive as possible and we are here to help you.
Year 6 students, I’m sure you have started to think about starting your new school and are feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves. That’s perfectly normal! I want you to know that we are excited about you joining us and are already making plans to welcome you to your new school.
Obviously, things are different at the moment and we are waiting to hear from the govt. to find out what the next few weeks and months ahead will look like in schools.
We will keep this page updated with information for you so that you can start to feel a part of Hummersknott Academy.
Emails have gone out with information including Form allocation. A paper copy has also been emailed to every address.
If you have not already verified your email, please respond to the emails sent to do so. If you have not received emails, then get in touch with us as we may have an incorrect email down for you.
Information about Year 7 Form Tutor Groups and Colleges will be going out to parents and carers this week as well as the detailed plans for September.
Carers and parents of year 6 students
As we draw nearer to the end of term, I know many of you are feeling anxious about what is happening in September regarding school transport. Next week we will know more information and will then contact you directly.
The year 6 transition visits planned for the end of June will unfortunately not be able to take place, due to COVID 19 and to ensure we are compliant with government guidance regarding social distancing.
However please be assured that as soon as the department for education releases information about further year groups returning to school in September, we will organise transition visits for our new students.
Y6 packs have either been delivered to your child’s primary school or posted to your home address. Due to the delays in post, we appreciate it will not be possible to meet our initial deadline for forms to be returned to us. Therefore, we just ask that you return completed forms as soon as possible.
Your child's primary school will be providing us with information about friendship groups over the next few weeks. We try where possible to team students up with a friend when we are organising the form mentor groups.
Information pack with admission form
These will be delivered into primary schools next week (week beginning 8 June) for you to collect.
