Bienvenue a Darlington

A really big welcome to the eight French students and two teachers who arrived on Monday evening to spend a week with their host families at Hummersknott. The French travelled by TGV and Eurostar to London, and then continued by train to Darlington. A long journey but really interesting, they said, as they could see all the countryside and move around a bit to chat.

The French have already been visited by most of their partners when we went to stay with them last year, in St Galmier, near Lyon. St Galmier is the home of Badoit mineral water and is a beautiful and interesting area of France to get to know. During their visit to us, they will meet the mayor of Darlington; spend a day in York; have lessons in school; make a wooden puzzle with MrBarker; and enjoy a day in Beamish. We will be waving them off next Monday after a breakfast party to say good-bye!

Here are some photos of us while we were in France – one in the Roman amphitheatre in Lyon, and the other in front of their school.
