Bienvenue a Darlington - posted 16th May

A really big welcome to the eight French students and two teachers who arrived on Monday evening to spend a week with their host families at Hummersknott. The French travelled by TGV and Eurostar to London, and then continued by train to Darlington. A long journey but really interesting, they said, as they could see all the countryside and move around a bit to chat.

Visit to the Mayor - posted 24th Apr

On the Thursday morning, the Italians went to visit the mayor. It was really interesting and everybody learnt loads about the traditions and history of Darlington. I think the favourite part was about the town hall ghost, whose presence is still felt today!

Italian Bakeoff! - posted 24th Apr

The Italian exchange students and their English hosts really enjoyed baking together, an activity that Italian students do not have at school. They made a traditional Victoria sponge cake with impressive results! Many thanks to Mrs Raine for all her help!

We are all set to welcome our Italian partner school on their return leg of the Italian Exchange! 10 Italian students and their teacher will be arriving this Friday 31 March, and the group will be staying with English host families until Friday 7 April.

Un Cheval sur le Balcon - posted 6th Mar


Some of our French students have enjoyed watching a film called : 'Un Cheval sur le Balcon' recently! This is a great film about a 10 year old boy with Asperger's Syndrome who finds a horse on his neighbour's balcony and who forms a bond between the animal and it's owner.
