‘Feeding the Future’

Hummersknott Academy Catering offers a wide variety of dishes each day.

We have one side for our 3 delicious Main meals (including a Vegetarian option) and the other side for ‘Grab and Go’, which includes Jacket Potatoes, Hot Pasta and Sauce, Panini’s etc., with both sides meeting in the middle for Hot Dessert. Also available on each side - a wide selection of Sandwiches and Wraps, Salad Boxes, Cold Pasta Boxes, Fresh Fruit, Yogurts, Milk, Bottled Water and other drinks. Chilled Water is also available free in the Dining Hall from our fountain.

Cakes and Tray Bakes are offered near the tills –– however, sweet items are only available when purchased with a savoury item, or as part of a balanced meal - as we comply with the Government Guidelines, and are committed to promoting healthy eating

Sandwiches (including boxed Salads and Pasta) are available in the Main Hall. We operate a ‘Pre-Order packed Lunch’ system, where students can order their healthy packed lunches at morning break and collect their lunch bag in the main hall avoiding the main queue.

Menus are reviewed at least twice a year and new dishes introduced. A full analysis including allergens is carried out on each dish, and each item we serve, and in turn each 3 week menu cycle is analysed to ensure full compliance with Government Guidelines confirming the correct balance of nutrients is achieved.  Our Catering Department is a 'nut free zone' and the food produced on site does not contain any peanuts or tree nuts.  There is an allergen board located in the Dining Hall where students, staff and visitors can check on the fourteen specific allergens in all items and dishes on offer.

We operate a Cashless Till System which speeds up the process at Morning Break and Lunchtime. Our system uses Biometric fingerprint readers - Biometric information may be downloaded here and the consent form here.  To ‘top-up’ a student’s lunch account, we have 2 revaluation terminals in school which take notes and coins, however, the queues for these can be quite extensive at times. Payment can also be made by cheque (cheques should be made payable to Hummersknott Academy). The preferred method and the most convenient, is Parentpayusing a debit or credit card on line, here you can also check a student’s balance and see what they have been purchasing.
