French Crepes - Year 7 - posted 14th Jul

In recent French lessons, Y7 students completed a project about crepes and their importance in French culture. They learned all of the ingredients used to make a crepe and studied a recipe in French. They were then set a challenge to make their own crepe and either produce a video or a storyboard outlining how they went about it.

Tree planting for Earth Day - posted 21st Apr

What are we doing?
To help celebrate Earth Day this week, 28 Year 7 students have planted five sapling trees within our school grounds. We have been lucky enough to be selected as one of only 20 schools across the country, to work with The Tree Council. The purpose of planting the trees is twofold: firstly, to join in the effort to mitigate the global issue of climate change at a local level via the strategy of afforestation. Secondly, after lockdown, students working outdoors, in nature and together, is part of our school plan to improve wellbeing.

Year 7 Inter College Football - posted 21st Apr

It was brilliant to restart inter college sporting competitions this week.  The Year 7 students were the first playing football and later this week will be the Year 7 hockey competition.  All the results will be counted for the College Cup.

Hummersknott Remembers - posted 11th Nov

Hummersknott once again marked the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month with an observation of the national silence. A bell rang to mark the start of the silence and it was concluded, as it has been for many years now, with the Last Post being played in the hub.

2019-2020 Fund Raising - posted 21st Apr

The College Student leaders have worked really hard to organise their college's fundraising efforts over the school year.  Unfortunately the current situation meant that many of their final events were not able to take place.  We have not completely finalised the total figures yet.  However, as each College had chosen a local charity, we have transferred the money already banked, as we realise that every penny counts at the moment.
