Harriet Rogers, 12, who swims for the Academy and is a member of the Darlington Amateur Swimming Club has qualified to swim in both the English and British national competitions this year.
The British Nationals will be held in Sheffield in July, whilst the English Nationals take place in the same venue but later in the year in August.
Harriet will be swimming in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle in the English nationals. However, in the British nationals she will compete in the 50m freestyle. The British competition will potentially be a more difficult challenge as Harriet will be swimming against 13 and 14 year olds, whilst still only 12 herself.
To qualify for the competitions Harriet had to have achieved a time this season which placed her in the top 24 nationally of the relevant age group.
We wish her every success!
